Buffalo State Cares SAMHSA grant was a collaborative effort with a number of community partners including the Crisis Services, Erie County Medical Center, UB Family Medicine Special Services, and the VA. We joined the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Erie County during the grant period , and are still the only college to be a member. These partners supported our campus efforts to increase awareness about suicide prevention and support students in suicidal crisis.
These organizations were a tremendous source of information and support while we worked on the SAMHSA grant. The relationships continue for our mutual assistance and benefit.
Out of The Darkness Community Walk
We were proud to participate in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Out of the Darkness community walk for the last several years. We have been successful in fundraising and have had the honor of having our team name, Buffalo State Cares, printed on all of the event t-shirts because we were in the top three of fundraisers. Last year and next year we will walk under the team name of Buffalo State Cares Upstanders, and we certainly hope you will join us.
Join the UPstander team this year on Saturday September 10, 2016!
